PlayStation 5 || This Changes Everything

There had been many speculations of the upcoming next-gen gaming console for the past few months. Earlier this year when Microsoft announced their next-gen gaming console naming the “Xbox Series X” the whole world went crazy. This time Sony has pulled up the trump card on the sleeve.

On June 11th, during the PS5 gameplay reveal event, The console has been shown at the very end which took many of us by surprise. The console looks like something straight from futuristic alien technology. Those sharp cuts & edges along with the black & white design were seen never before in the gaming console market.

Here is the unveiling trailer of PlayStation 5 by Sony themselves:

PlayStation 5 Variants:

Sony will be offering two variants of the PlayStation 5. One will be the standard PlayStation 5 and the other will be the new PlayStation 5 Digital Edition which will ditch the optical disk drive option as a cost-cutting measure.

Design:

The dimension figures are not exactly known as of writing this article, but judging by the design the PlayStation 5 will be on the thinner side with exactly the same height of its nemesis the “Xbox Series X”.

From the video, if we Look at the front, we will see 1 x USB and 1 x USB Type-C port, with two physical buttons. One will be used for power and the other to eject for the disc tray. However, the digital edition lacking the disk drive won’t feature the second button.

We also managed to see learn the ventilation system of the console. This is important as the PlayStation 5 packs some serious power-hungry hardware with its punch and cooling those isn’t going to be easy. It seems, Sony will be using vents on both the left and right sides. We still haven’t managed to see the backside of the console to see the proper Input & Output of the console. Let’s keep hope we will be able to post them for you to see sometimes in the near future.

Accessories:

As for the controller, Sony is offering the DualSense which is a massive design upgrade from the previous-gen DualShock controller family. The new controller features a stunning two-tone White & Black color scheme, a futuristic-looking “boomerang-like shape” form factor.

Many fans didn’t like the design, but regardless of their opinion, the new DualSense controller has some features that all are bound to like, such as a built-in microphone, adaptive shoulder button triggers, new & better haptic feedback and most of all a ‘Create’ button that can be used for many new functions which replaces the old PS4 “Share” button.

There will also be options for extra HD camera accessory and Sony’s new Pulse 3D headphones, which will feature 3D audio which Sony has been pushing in the mass market.

Gaming & Media Experience:

Another cool feature the PlayStation 5 will bring to its user is the ray-tracing technology, A premium only the PC users we’re allowed to taste till now. Other things that will make the new PlayStation 5 stand out from its competitor is the inclusion of a super-fast SSD, a built-in 4K Blu-ray player, and most of all it will have backwards compatibility with a huge list of the old gen game console

Also in the event, there has been an announcement for more than two dozens of games coming to PlayStation 5 during the launch and hundreds to come in the upcoming years.

Final Thoughts

The differences in design or internal capabilities might be huge but this is a big stake for both the manufacturers and the release date of the “Xbox Series X” and “PlayStation 5” is likely to be on the same timeline, which we expect on right before Christmas of 2023.

As for the pricing, Sony hasn’t yet confirmed the PlayStation 5 price but our sources hinted the standard version price will be around $549 where the digital edition will be priced around $499, which might be a bit higher than what you would expect but keep in mind the generational leap is very significant for the PlayStation 5. Also, there might be some final release time price cut depending on which giant will fire their gun first. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Xbox Series X vs PlayStation 5

With this generation of gaming console, Sony has been leading the market by a significant margin. On the other hand, Microsoft has been trying their best and with what we have seen with the “Xbox Series X” they might be able to take the crown away from Sony.

But, only time will tell what will be happening. In both ways, this competition is a win-win situation for us the consumers. On a side note, the price of the now soon-to-be replaced current gen console has been reduced drastically. If you want to grab one right now, We’ll be giving you some links to look into.
