Important Note for 2026: This ‘Long Term Process’ involves manual registry edits and file deletions, which were more common for deeply embedded or malicious extensions on older operating systems like Windows XP and Windows 7. Google Chrome no longer officially supports these older Windows versions (support ended for Windows 7/8/8.1 in early 2023). For most modern users on Windows 10 or 11, the ‘Short Term Process’ (Method 02) is sufficient and strongly recommended. Proceed with extreme caution if attempting this method, and ensure you have a full system backup. This method is generally not recommended for casual users or for extensions removable via standard Chrome settings.

Remove the file name.
